History

Forme Medical came to life as Australian Medical Couches(AMC) in 1985 at the hands of a Scottish family who immigrated to Australia and noticed a lack of locally made medical equipment in the market. The business was started in Beaumaris, Victoria and AMC developed a range of treatment tables for Physiotherapists. AMC quickly began developing and manufacturing examination couches for Podiatry and Gynaecology. With a focus on quality, they used their own experience in the medical industry and fostered links with medical practitioners to develop treatment tables with electrically powered movements and versatile functionality.

In the early 2000s,at Australian Medical Couches was purchased by another family, who continued to grow and modernise the range into the more familiar product you see today. The business moved to Kensington, Victoria.

In April 2012 Australian Medical Couches was purchased by another privately held Australian company who moved the production and head office to Carrum Downs, Victoria. With a heavy focus on innovation and research and development, the company quickly expanded with the help of the medical community.

In August 2015, we changed our name to Forme Medical to reflect the growth of the business in designing, developing and sourcing a wide range of patient positioning products in addition to continuing what we’re well known for in the industry – manufacturing high-quality Australian made medical couches. It was during this period that Forme Medical opened up a large scale manufacturing facility in Thailand to support the growing demand for the 2510 Opal and 2550 Onyx models.

In January 2021 Forme Medical was acquired by Alevo Pty Ltd. Alevo is another private, family-owned, Australian company with a rich history of Australian Design, development and manufacturing of Treatment tables. Alevo also owns well-known treatment table manufacturer Athlegen, Azima and Centurion tables. The Forme medical offices and production in Carrum downs were moved to the Alevo factory in Ballarat and the head office moved to the Alevo head office in Mascot, NSW. As part of this acquisition, the Forme Medical manufacturing facility in Thailand was closed, and all production brought back to Australia.

Now larger than ever, Forme Medical continues to grow, develop and improve our product offerings, customer service and community engagement throughout Australia and internationally.
